What’s the difference between coaching and counselling?

You can distinguish between coaching and counselling if you see your psychological well-being on a scale.  Everything below zero (the point of being OK) would require counselling.  Usually in this case you experience some psychological or psychosomatic complains (such as sleeping problems, tension, depressed mood, headaches) which impede your daily functioning and happiness.   Counselling aims to get you back to an optimal level of wellbeing.  Anything you aspire to beyond the zero point (to perform better or  to develop) would usually require coaching.  There are some cases where the two run into one another.  Both coaching and counselling offer a confidential relationship based on help through talking offering an opportunity for reflection, feedback, exploration and solutions.
